It’s Senior Snow Dance Time

Well, it’s time again to break out the senior snow dance. Snow is in the forecast tomorrow and who doesn’t want a snow day? So let’s just keep out the juniors and get the right amount of guys and girls this time.

Anyway, KNITTING!

My socks are done and I’ve worn them once already and many times around the house. The circular shrug’s body is complete, so now I’m trying to decide when to make the i-cords. It is a little smaller than I would have liked, but with the i-cords, I should be able to keep it closed relatively well. And my French Market bag is coming along quite well. I’ll need to get more lamb’s pride for it, but other than that, I can’t wait to experiment with the felting process. I do think I’m going to have to steal someone’s washing machine, since ours is a front-loader, but that’s not too much of a problem. I’ll just go to my neighbors’ home (that is also my grandparents’ home) and practice Rock Band while I’m waiting for it to felt.

By the way, Rock Band = most fun game ever. It’s utterly fantastic.

And now, I must go get ready for school. *snow, snow, snow*

Lalalala! It’s not Monday!

Despite my efforts, it’s still Monday, it’s still cold, and I’m still not ready to go to school. So not ready in fact, that I completely denied the existence of school by not doing any work over the weekend. And as a result, that Comparative Politics test on Communism I have today? Totally and utterly unprepared for it. Have I finished my packet over the learning chapter in Psychology? Nope. Read Dante’s Inferno? Nuh uh. What did I do over the weekend then?

Well, I had a fantastic night out on Friday with the Strong Women of Burke’s Class group (our English class is comprised of all but 4 male students) at a local Thai restaurant and then at a local coffee shop (can you tell we’re big on supporting local products?). The coffee shop did have a terrible band there but what can you do? Saturday, I watched Extreme Home Makeover on the web, finished my NYU application, and had a piano lesson. Then I went over to the best friend’s house for a night with our group. I ended up spending the night there. Got up Sunday morning and had no intention of doing anything. Went to see Annie (the musical) with my grandmother, cousins and sister, came home and watched Gossip Girl on the web, and then did nothing. It was a very eventful weekend.

In terms of knitting, I’ve started the decreases for the second sock and I realized Saturday night that it was a bit different than what I did on the first sock, but oh well. I also had to frog my circular shrug down to the first ribbing section. I got it completely finished and tried it on. Too small. Silly me, forgot to take gauge in the mock rib stitch instead of stockinette. So I’m making it work and the big panel will be in stockinette now.

Oh! I also made a trip to the LYS with the boyfriend. He bought some yarn for the knit wallet from Knitting With Balls and the men’s issue of Knit.1. I got 2 skeins of Lamb’s Pride worsted and 4 magazine (3 Knit.1’s and an Interweave Knits). I think I’ll go back and get some more Lamb’s Pride for the felted French Market bag from knitty. I really want to try felting and I think it’s time to make the leap.

Knitting Fearlessly

As many fellow knitters out there do, I subscribe to Interweave’s Knitting Daily e-mails. I have joined the Fearless Knitters 08 movement and have decided to set some goals around here!

This year I will:
- knit my first sweater/vest/similar item
- finish my pair of socks and wear them proudly
- be a better blogger
- try a new technique
- not put things off so much

Now, to elaborate on the first one, there are many vests I would like to knit, so I’ll probably start off with a vest and if I’m comfortable with that, I’ll move on to a sweater or something. That is, provided I have the money to fund everything!

For Christmas, I got a sewing machine from my family, so I may show up here with some sewed items as well, again, if I have the money. I’d love to be able to create an entire wardrobe that I’ve made myself. Reconstruct clothes from thrift stores and such, et cetera. I think that would be awesome. That might be my inner hippie though. You never know.

More later,
