Knitting Update

I was reading over my last post and realized, “HEY! I didn’t say anything about my current knitting projects!” So here’s an update:

Dessert Cabletini socks for Bee: Coming along quite well. I really like the toe-up method and will probably be doing a lot more of it. I’ve turned the heel and am about 1 1/2 – 2 inches into the leg. I really like the pattern, so when I make socks again, Cabletini will be high on the list.

Frenchie Market Bag: Finished! I put a big purple stripe around the middle of it and I really like how it looks. Ok, I lied. It’s not completely finished. I’ve got to felt it, but after that, it’s done!

Evangeline for Mom: I have yet to start on these, but I do love the pattern and will be starting just as soon as I get the socks done.

What’s up next? Probably the Mrs. Darcy cardigan. But maybe a vest… Or something. I dunno. Oh! I know what’s up next. A messenger bag for the boyfriend. I gave him the gift of a handknit item for Valentine’s Day. He gets to pick it out, so I’m just waiting for him to pick.

In other news, I’ve decided to take up sewing again when I have time and money of course. I’ve found lots of nice patterns online (especially a baby shoes pattern Mom sent to me. SUPER CUTE). I’ve been looking into doing more sewing since I got a new machine for Christmas, but I just haven’t had an opportunity.

More later. And pictures, I promise!

Newest Knitting Scout

Well, I’ve just stumbled across the Knitting Scout badges and LOVE THEM! So here’s my first one, the “Proselytize Knitting” badge. Let’s see… Well, apart from converting my best friend, my boyfriend, and my best friend’s boyfriend (or boyfriend’s best friend… same person), I’m the general KIPper. I’ve got Best Friend’s Cabletini socks with me all the time so that I never have idle hands.

Yesterday during the intermission of a play Sis and I went to with our grandmother and two of her friends, I pulled out the socks. My grandmother and one of her friends looked down the row at me and said, “Speaking of little old ladies!” because there were lots of little old ladies around. Of course, I was the only one knitting. Regardless. I then proceeded to inform those around us that knitting’s demographics were getting younger and younger and just because I was making socks, I wasn’t a little old lady. I explained that it was extremely relaxing and kept me from diving off the balcony where our seats were to try to get away from all the things in the world that make me angry. I could either take drugs or knit. And while knitting is an addiction, at least it’s healthy (except for my wallet) and I’ve got something to show for my time and money spent. Keep in mind, the entire time that I was saying this, I didn’t look up from my cabling. Because as luck would have it, they interrupted me on a cable row.

Bah, they’re just jealous. Oops! I guess that qualifies me for the
“I Can Be an Asshole When It Comes to Knitting” badge. YAY! more badges!!
