Iiiit’s Picture Time!!

Alright, so looking back I realized that it’s been Too Long since I posted any pictures.  A lot has happened since then.

I’ve finished my second sweater, my Lace Ribbon Scarf, and one sock out of a pair.  I’ve also received my spinning kit and roving.  I’ve spun up two of my practice rovings and am growing more confident as I go.

Now, I’ll warn you that my camera’s batteries are being a bit resistant, so these pics are taken with my iCamera on my MacBook.  Forgive the fuzziness, please!

Without further ado, the pictures in the fabulous new WordPress Gallery!

I really like the gallery!  I’ve always struggled with trying to balance pictures of my projects with text.  This is perfect!

And now it’s time for me to get some sleep.  It’s been a long week and I’m exhausted.  Next week’s going to be just as long, if not longer.  And I won’t be able to knit as much.

More later!

Give It Up.

So, I’m a member of the infamous Lazy, Stupid, and Godless group on Ravelry.  It’s known to the outside as a misbehaving, foul-language-using, and all-around rabble-rousing group of people.  Within the group though, it’s a pretty closeknit (no pun intended) group of people who run to the aid of one member when he or she is struggling.

Now, one of our members is committing herself to a hardcore diet to get in shape, so as a show of solidarity, LSG Lent was created.  Everyone in the group who wants to is giving something up or taking something on for the duration of the diet.  I’ve joined up, have posted on the thread, and am posting here to make sure I don’t even think about forgetting.

So keep me in line if you see me slipping!

Until I leave for school, I will get 30 minutes of exercise daily, be it walking around town, walking on the treadmill, doing yoga, whatever.  Once I’m at school, if I want a snack, I’m going to walk myself to Whole Foods and get me some fruits/veggies to munch on.  I WILL NOT buy crappy, processed snack foods from the convenience store because those are terrible for me.  Throughout this whole thing, I will get back to drinking water because I feel so much better when I’ve had enough water and am not dehydrated.

Here’s to reclaiming healthy living.  If you want to join up, and by no means do you have to, come on over to Lazy, Stupid, and Godless, and check out the LSG Lent thread.  It should be pretty close to the top.

Now, I’ve got to go, because I’m walking to the Farmers’ Market!

Filthy Enablers!!

Well, crap.  I’ve been thinking about trying out spinning for a while.  It’s almost like magic, taking fiber from an animal, twisting it, knitting it, and then wearing it.  Ingenious really.  Well, Molly (aka nerdclub2000 on Ravelry) posted some lovely roving in her Etsy and I started lusting after it immediately.

So I started thinking… how can I get this roving and use it?  Well, I’d need a spindle.  And some roving to practice on.  And when I started looking at all the possibilities, I wanted to spin even more.

I took into consideration all the possibilities that I could get and finally settled on this starter kit from Maine Woods Yarn & Fiber and this roving from Nerdclub2000.  $42.30 total.  I could get that.  It’s not that much.  Plus, I just got paid!  Now, let’s convince Mom that I should get it.

Things went well up until that conversation.  The first time I brought it up, her response was very unresponsive.  She was in clean-the-house mode, even though she wasn’t cleaning the house at the moment I brought it up (I know better than that!).  So I waited a day and asked again.  And I was so overcome with the want of spinning supplies that I agreed to get 15 minutes of “dedicated exercise” every day until I leave for school.

She’s sneaky, that mother of mine.  Oh, well.  I’m going to get to spin!
